Rust Job: Systems Administrator

ABOUT 42:

42 is one of the best coding schools in the world, with more than 40 campuses in 25 countries worldwide. It is an inclusive school, open to anyone regardless of academic background or professional experience: applicants only need to have at least 17 years old and a huge will to learn. The school uses a disruptive learning approach based on a peer-to-peer, project-based learning method. There are no teachers or schedules, and no tuitions, the whole program is totally free – sponsored by several individual and corporate benefactors. The whole program takes place physically on the school, that is open 24 hours, 365 days a year, for students to be able to come in and work whenever they want to.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the responsibility of the IT Director, you will be in charge of the update and the day-to-day tasks related to the 42 Lisboa and 42 Porto technological infrastructure.

These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide the necessary IT environment for 42 Lisboa and 42 Porto curriculum;
• Ensure uninterrupted availability and reliability of the IT infrastructure as a whole, along with regular audits, maintenance and optimizations of its components, both hardware and software;
• Ensure uninterrupted availability and reliability of 42 Lisboa and 42 Porto online contents, such as, but not limited to the school official websites, along with regular audits, maintenance and upgrades;
• Stay up-to-date regarding programming, IT trends and technologies;
• Ensure reasonable Cybersecurity of 42 Lisboa and 42 Porto infrastructure;
• Ensure uninterrupted availability and reliability of the Access Control and CCTV systems in liaise with 42 Lisboa and 42 Porto Operations Manager.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Technical knowledge of computer operating systems, hardware and software;
• Knowledge of local network infrastructure systems;
• Knowledge of programming languages like Python and C (Rust is a plus);
• Knowledge of IT automation technologies like Ansible, Terraform and Vagrant;
• Knowledge of OS virtualization like Vmware ESXi;
• Minimum 2 – 3 years of IT professional experience;
• Analytic skills and capability to develop innovative ideas;
• Fluent in Portuguese
• High level of written and spoken English (French language as a plus);
• Experience in digital communication tools and processes (desirable);

• Carried out in-loco, in 42 Lisboa (although with flexibility for some occasional remote working)
• Legally allowed to work in Portugal - we do not arrange Visa Permits for applicants to come work with us;
